How RankRift handles tool conflicts

RankRift publishes evaluation criteria and comparisons for AI-visibility tools. This policy records the current non-commercial model and the safeguards that keep those evaluations independent.

RankRift has no product sales, sponsorships, paid placements, display advertising, or affiliate relationships.

In short

Tool coverage carries an incentive risk even without an active commercial relationship. RankRift addresses it with checkable rules: no paid placement, no affiliate links to measurement products, no sponsorship, named alternatives, and a public method.

Who this is for

  • Readers weighing a RankRift comparison against its possible commercial incentives
  • Vendors we cover editorially who want to know the rules before their product appears in something we publish
  • Journalists and researchers deciding how much weight a RankRift finding should carry
  • In-house and agency readers who have been burned by affiliate-driven tool roundups and are checking for the same pattern here
  • Anyone who wants to check a page here against these commitments

When to use this

  • Before acting on any comparison, criteria list, or tool recommendation published here
  • Before citing any study that names brands
  • When you want to know exactly which commercial relationships the site records
  • When you suspect a commercial interest has shaped what you are reading

The risk, without hedging

We publish evaluation criteria, category explainers, and comparisons about commercial measurement products.

Anyone reading tool coverage has an obvious and correct question: could a commercial incentive be shaping it? RankRift has no commercial relationship with any tool it covers, but a publication that writes about a paid category can acquire one, and a reader cannot see that from the outside.

What we can do is bind ourselves to rules specific enough to be checked from the outside, publish them here, and link affected pages to this one. The value of this page is the list below, which you can hold us to.

The safeguards, specifically

Each of these is a commitment, not an aspiration. Each is written so that a breach would be visible to a reader rather than only to us.

Two of these constrain revenue directly. That is the point: a safeguard that costs nothing is not a safeguard.

Current commercial scope

RankRift has no affiliate links, sponsorships, paid placements, display advertising, product sales, or commissioned research. This is RankRift's own statement, not an independent audit.

What we do when the conflict gets hard

Some situations are harder than a disclosure line can handle. We would rather describe how those get resolved now, while nothing is at stake, than improvise later when something is.

The general rule: when a conflict cannot be managed by disclosure, the commercial interest gives way — we recuse or we do not publish. Losing a page is cheaper than losing the argument the whole site rests on.

Where you will see this disclosure

The disclosure appears wherever the conflict could plausibly affect what you read, rather than only where regulation would require it.

If you think we got this wrong

If you think a page here has been shaped by a commercial interest — a comparison that reads too favourably, a missing limitation, a competitor's strength understated, a disclosure that is not where it should be — check it against the safeguards above. A page that fails one has failed its own standard, and you should discount it accordingly.

RankRift does not run a contact inbox. The correction protocol sets out how a material error should be handled: the page is corrected with a dated note, and the correction is logged rather than made quietly.

If your concern is about a measured result naming your brand rather than about a comparison, the correction protocol also covers re-runs, which is a different and more concrete route.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I trust a tool comparison from a publication with potential commercial incentives?

You should inspect it more closely than coverage from a source with no stake, and you should check it. That is why the method is public, why every comparison names who a different approach suits better, and why we never rank ourselves or an owned product. The practical test: read a comparison here and see whether it names a situation where no product, or a different product, is the better answer. If it does not, the page has failed its own standard and you should discount it.

Do you earn anything if I click through to another product?

No. RankRift has no affiliate links, and the policy prohibits affiliate links to measurement products because that conflict cannot be managed by disclosure.

Can a vendor pay to be included in your research or comparisons?

No. Inclusion, position, and removal of an accurate finding are not for sale. Sponsorship is excluded from the current model, and the research specification disqualifies funder influence over subjects, prompt sets, categories, results, or ordering.

Does a potential commercial incentive affect the manual snapshot guide?

It is worth checking the incentive behind any diagnostic. RankRift's snapshot page is a manual method, not a lead-generating service: it collects no brand input, produces no automated score, and directs readers to retain the raw observations and uncertainty themselves.

Can RankRift rank an owned product as the best fit?

RankRift has no owned product. This policy does not permit it to add itself to a leaderboard or engineer criteria around an owned feature set. The product page is a vendor-neutral evaluation brief, not an offer.

Parts of it track ordinary advertising and disclosure expectations, and parts go further than anyone would require. This page is general information about our own practices rather than legal advice, and if you are working out your own disclosure obligations you should consult qualified counsel. Our reasoning is simpler than compliance: the site's entire proposition is auditable measurement, and an unaudited conflict would undercut it.

Check the criteria, then check us against them

The tool evaluation criteria are published so you can apply them to any product in this category. The method behind any number on this site is public for the same reason.
